Bramhall Station to Poynton Station
a surprising view. A good walk between two small towns with a rural bit in the middle: quiet residential roads, a stony path between an oil terminal and house fences, a field path around the base of a hill, the A555 viaduct underpass with kissing gates, a long straight muddy hedged path. The rural section's gates and stiles and paths make it foot-only.
3km.
Kissing gates, stiles and a long muddy path make the rural section foot-only. A couple of short overgrown pinch points. Navigation can be confusing where footpaths between houses are poorly signed.

Cheadle Hulme Station to Bramhall Station
a fantastic woodland walk. A route of two halves: a lengthy walk on suburban streets and pavements, with a short uphill climb and redeemed by a delightful stretch through Carr Wood on a good woodland path above a brook. Mostly level with some short steep bits. There are plenty of benches in Carr Wood. The gate where the path meets the road at the top of Carr Wood is narrow.
Easy: 3km, moderate ascents.
Lunch: Shops, cafes and a historic pub near Cheadle Hulme, and shops at the Bramhall end.

Bramhall Station to Stockport Station
beautiful views and wildlife. A roundabout route touring Stockport's urban parks, including the Ladybrook Valley Path. Lovely to walk with good views and wildlife, but heavy mud after rain, with the valley path becoming sucking mud and stairs in Hollywood Park.
Easy: 9km, moderate ascents.

Bramhall Station to Hazel Grove Station
A nice route on footpaths and quiet roads through Happy Valley Nature Reserve, with a stream-side section on the Fred Perry Way and a Peak District view from the station bridge. Has railway-bridge steps, a steep muddy stepped path and a kissing gate and a squeeze stile. Follows part of the Fred Perry Way along the stream; crosses two railway lines, so steps are unavoidable.
Easy: 4km, moderate ascents.
Two railway bridges with steps and a steep, unstable, muddy stepped path; one kissing gate and a squeeze stile. A footpath near Seal Road is closed by a locked gate; bypass via Dairyground Road.

Wilmslow Station to Bramhall Station
A relatively flat route through a mixture of wooded areas (including Hall Wood), fields and urban streets and with short minor inclines. Has a number of stiles and a couple of gates; fields can be waterlogged and muddy. Rural sections aren't well lit.
Easy: 6km, moderate ascents.
Several stiles; fields can be waterlogged and muddy. Rural sections aren't well lit. Note part of the route may be closed due to bankside erosion on the River Bollin.
