Mexborough Station to Conisbrough Station
A surprisingly green and countryside route with a touch of blue, taking in a far-reaching view from North Cliff Hill over the River Don valley, crossing the Don and the Mexborough New Cut canal. Much of it is along a main road once off the river path and then through housing estates; it includes a long flight of steps and ploughed-field-and-woodland paths. Crosses the River Don and the Mexborough New Cut, part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire canal.
5km.
Ferry Boat Lane south of the railway bridge can flood to significant depth after storms. A long flight of steps and a busy road crossing near Mexborough.

Bolton-upon-Dearne Station to Mexborough Station
A lovely, easy-to-follow route mixing footpath, field, gravel and country lanes and with a flood bank along the north side of the River Dearne and a final stretch through a housing estate. The riverside section can be wet and slippery. Passes the RSPB Adwick Washland reserve; the National Cycle Network route south of the river Dearne is a safer bet in wet conditions.
Easy: 6km, moderate ascents.
Lowfield Lane through the RSPB Adwick Washland reserve can flood deeply (almost knee-high) after heavy rain; the riverside flood bank can be wet and slippery.
