Beautiful walks starting or ending at Bletchley Station.

Bletchley Station to Leighton Buzzard Station

stunning with the amazing autumn colours. A mostly flat, easy route, around 90% along the Grand Union Canal towpath and a riverside path by the River Ouzel, with some residential streets and a less pleasant section under railway bridges at the Bletchley end. The towpath is partly traditional and unpaved so can get muddy and the river section can flood after heavy rain. A few sets of steps up to canal bridges. Follows the Grand Union Canal and River Ouzel, with plenty of locks. Easy to return on a short train journey between the two stations. The canal continues to Campbell Park and Milton Keynes if extended.

13km. Gentle ascents.

Two short river/canal sections can flood after heavy rain; fine for boots but not trainers. The towpath is not all paved and can be muddy; one or two sections have subsided. A few steps up to bridges where you cross the canal. Watch for cyclists.

Lunch: Plenty of shops at the Leighton Buzzard end and throughout into Bletchley.

Bletchley Station to Woburn Sands Station

The vast majority follows the pavement of the A4146 and connected main road, set well back with wide underpasses and plus a section through Old Farm Park and a short cross-country stretch with two kissing gates. Safe but relentless underfoot.

8km.

A very short section of road walking with no pavement on arrival in Wavendon.

Milton Keynes Central Station to Bletchley Station

Makes the most of Milton Keynes' pedestrian network: roughly a third on paths beside roads, the majority on alleys and metalled paths through parklands, open spaces and suburbia. Mostly flat and surfaced; some sections exposed and with steps at Furzton Lake. Passes Teardrop Lakes and Furzton Lake; the National Museum of Computing is reached via the main Bletchley Park entrance; a step-free alternative exists.

6km.

Steps at Furzton Lake have no handrail; a short section runs alongside the busy, fast Watling Street.

Lunch: A refreshment bar with outdoor seating next to an Italian restaurant at Furzton Lake.
