High Wycombe Station to Beaconsfield Station
A varied walk through changing landscapes: urban alleys ('jitties'), forest, farmland and a long section beside water along the Wye valley into High Wycombe. Some short, steep and muddy sections and several stiles and kissing gates. Largely follows the Chiltern Way and then the Berkshire Loop.
Tough: steep ascents. 9km.
The lower part of Hammersley Lane has no footpath where it passes under the railway bridge; this short section can be avoided via Kingsmead Rec.

Marlow Station to High Wycombe Station
A beautiful walk with views and woodlands, quite idyllic in many places. An undulating route with some long climbs and steep parts (around 30%), mostly on woodland paths and a few minor single-track roads, joining the Chiltern Way and passing through Horton Wood and Keep Hill Wood. Stairs, gates, narrow and a few overgrown paths and fallen trees to hop over; finishes across The Rye park. Joins a stretch of the Chiltern Way and sensibly tunnels under the busy A404. The Rye has a picturesque watermill.
11km. Moderate ascents.
Long, steep climbs and some narrow, overgrown paths; a footpath may be closed for tree felling near Marlow.
Lunch stop: the Three Horseshoes.

High Wycombe Station to Amersham Station
beautiful views across the countryside. Footpaths and country paths through hilly Chiltern countryside, with some quite steep climbs (up Totteridge Lane and through Kings Wood). Uneven, stony footpath through Kings Wood. Can become very muddy, wet and slippery after rain and particularly between Winchmore Hill and Coleshill. Follows the Chiltern Way for part of the way.
Tough: steep ascents. 14km.
The plotted route crosses the A413 south of Old Amersham where there is no footbridge and the banks are too steep to scramble; use the safer footbridge crossing instead. Some mapped paths toward Wycombe are obscure or do not exist on the ground. Not recommended after an extended period of rain. Can be muddy.
Lunch: Pubs at Coleshill, Winchmore Hill and Tylers Green; coffee and a village shop by Tylers Green pond.
Coffee at various locations in Amersham.
