Balham Station to Streatham Station

An urban walk mainly along reasonably quiet residential roads and busier streets, on pavements and paths throughout and lifted by a pleasant stretch across open green space at Tooting Bec Common. Some short muddy sections in the common.

Easy: 3km, gentle ascents.

A small part of the route is blocked: it tries to direct you through the grounds of Balham Leisure Centre where there is a metal fence; a road detour is needed.

Clapham Junction Station to Balham Station

A pleasant urban walk with a surprising amount of green, off-road walking and largely on tree-lined paths across Wandsworth Common and past its lake. The tarmac path is a little rough in places; the steepest gradient is the bridge over the railway. Toilets on the common.

Easy: 3km, moderate ascents.

Lunch: Coffee shops at either end.
