Beautiful walks starting or ending at Earlsfield Station.

Earlsfield Station to Clapham Junction Station

a smashing walk. A short, easy and fairly green urban walk on pavements and surfaced park paths, dipping through Wandsworth Cemetery and across the middle third of Wandsworth Common and using quiet tree-lined residential roads. One busy road crossed safely at lights. There are public toilets in the cemetery near the chapel inside the main gates. Battersea Rise carries both the A3 and A205 but is crossed safely at lights.

Easy: 3km, gentle ascents.

Wandsworth Cemetery has set opening hours (from 8am, 10am Sundays; closing 4-7pm); if closed you must walk along Magdalen Road instead.

Lunch: There is the Skylark Café on Wandsworth Common, slightly off-route.

Putney Station to Earlsfield Station

It was super varied. A varied urban walk making excellent use of a string of parks and quiet residential streets, contrasting with short sections of busy road. Largely flat, following the Wandle Trail and crossing the River Wandle on a footbridge and with a cycle barrier and a traffic-free bridge over the railway. Follows the Wandle Trail and passes through King George's Park (the Wandsworth-to-Earlsfield section is lit 24/7). Public toilets at the library by Putney station.

4km.

The roads around Wandsworth are loud, busy and polluted, though safe and easy to navigate.

Wimbledon Station to Earlsfield Station

A direct route mixing low-traffic residential streets, some busier roads, an off-road riverside path along the Wandle Trail shared with cyclists. The riverside path is the highlight and varied between lovely and more industrial stretches. Uses the Wandle Trail; information boards at the northern end cover the river's fish and history. The river is healthy with abundant water plants and wildlife.

Easy: 3km, gentle ascents.

Lunch: Shops available around Haydons Road.
