Horsley to Gomshall
Bluebell woods, pine forest and North Downs views, past Old Simm's Copse, West Horsley Place and Effingham Forest.
Woodland: two thirds under tree cover.
Old Simm's Copse: A tucked-away North Downs woodland renowned for its spring bluebell display.
West Horsley Place: A historic country house and cultural venue used as Button House in the BBC comedy Ghosts.
Time: 3h–6h
Warnings: Best in April to early May; steep descent to Abinger Roughs.

Chilworth to Gomshall
Blackheath Common heathland, the wooded greensand ridge of Winterfold and the pretty village of Shere with its medieval church, across the Tillingbourne Valley.
Blackheath Common: A tract of sandy heathland and common land in the Tillingbourne Valley.
Winterfold: A wooded greensand ridge offering far-reaching views across the Weald.
Shere Church: The medieval parish church at the heart of one of Surrey's prettiest villages.
Lunch: William IV, Shere.

Gomshall to Dorking West
Recommended: A lovely lowland walk through Abinger Roughs. A direct, fairly flat lowland walk through quiet fields at the foot of the North Downs and mostly on good sandy/greensand surfaces and partly on the National Cycle Network. Some gentle hills but nothing steep; gates but no stiles; largely avoids winter mud. Largely follows National Cycle Route 22. Both ends have stations (roughly one train an hour between them).

Time: 2h30–4h30
