Haslemere to Godalming

Recommended: An absolutely splendid route. An undulating, largely off-road route across country and a mix of woodland and farm tracks with some quiet lane walking. There are quite a few ups and downs before Godalming. Goes through Woodland Trust woods at Brook to reduce A-road walking; passes Milford station and bus stops, giving drop-out points (note reduced Sunday transport).

Woodland: a quarter under tree cover.

Time: 4h–8h30

Lunch: A pub at Brook (book ahead for food, especially on Sundays) plus refreshments and bus stops at Witley.

Walk details: Slow Ways.

Farnham to Haslemere

Recommended: One of the best slow ways. A lovely mix of woodland and heathland on good paths and following the Greensand Way then the North Downs Way into Farnham. Mostly off-road with some quiet road-walking; a few kissing gates but no stiles. Follows the Greensand Way and links to the North Downs Way; skirts the edge of (but avoids) the Hankley Common MoD training area. Crosses the River Wey and its tributaries at several points.

Woodland: a third under tree cover.

Mother Ludlam's Cave: Sandstone cave associated with local folklore.

Time: 6h–11h30

1 lunch spot: the Barley Mow, Tilford Green

Walk details: Slow Ways.

Reverse direction: the Saturday Walkers Club.
