Beautiful walks starting or ending at North Dulwich Station.

North Dulwich Station to Catford Station

Mostly road walking on quiet residential streets, cutting across two large parks for greenery and entirely paved. The whole area is on high land with gentle slopes and brief views of London's skyline. Crofton Park and Honor Oak stations are close to the route; public toilets at Dulwich Library, Peckham Rye and Honor Oak.

Easy: 6km, moderate ascents.

Lunch: Many places to shop or eat along the way, including The Ivy House on Stuart Road, Nunhead, in the middle; a cafe with toilets in Peckham Rye Park.

North Dulwich Station to Crystal Palace Station

one of my favourite routes in London; a beautiful walk; the leafy roads and shady woodlands made this a lovely walk. An indirect but lovely green walk through woods and parks, mostly traffic-free on wide, leafy paths, with steep woodland sections and multiple long flights of steps and kissing gates. Woodland can be very muddy. Follows the Green Chain Walk, which makes navigation much easier. Dulwich Park and Wells Park have public toilets.

Tough: steep ascents. 5km.

Steep woodland paths, multiple long flights of steps (some steep) and narrow kissing gates. Dulwich Woods can be very muddy. Some parks may be locked at night. Cross the South Circular (A205) at the island near the park entrance rather than the Lordship Lane junction, which has no pedestrian phase.

Lunch: Dulwich Park has a cafe.

Brixton Station to North Dulwich Station

A direct, leafy and safe urban walk, slightly longer but greener than the alternative, along pleasant streets and through parkland. It uses a green-space path near Brixton away from the main roads, passes through Brockwell Park with its lido, then a quiet road and a narrow strip of parkland on what remains of Rush Common. Road crossings are easy and mainly at lights.

3km.

North Dulwich Station to Peckham [Rye Station](/train-stations/south-east-england/surrey/peckham-rye)

A flat, easy-to-follow urban route, almost entirely on tarmac paths and quiet residential roads, using back routes and cycle paths and dipping through green spaces where available. Only a few mild slopes and nothing you would call a hill.

Easy: 3km, moderate ascents.

Take care joining the cycle path down Green Dale, as bikes build up speed coming down the hill.

Lunch: Good options for food and drink, including cafes and shops on Bellenden Road and a large Sainsbury's with a cafe.

West Dulwich Station to North Dulwich Station

A short, largely flat urban link, mostly on roadside pavements with one stretch through a tree-lined park. Paved the whole way and with only kerbs at road crossings. Belair Park has set closing times (check the Southwark council website).

Easy: 1km, flat terrain.

Lunch: Plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants in Dulwich Village, though it tends to be pricey.
