A green, mainly flat urban route that park-hops between a string of parks and green spaces and quiet residential back streets, staying fairly direct. Pavements and tarmac paths all the way; the only real hill is a short and gentle climb on Vestry Road towards the end. Passes the Camberwell nuclear bunker.

London Bridge Station to Oval Station
A direct, flat urban route, entirely along main roads on wide pavements with little elevation. It passes through extremely diverse, rapidly changing neighbourhoods and with a couple of parks providing relief from the traffic.
Easy: 3km, flat terrain.
The route follows main roads throughout, with heavy traffic around the Elephant and Castle roundabout. Note the Kennington end is at Oval tube, not Kennington tube.
Lunch: Well served with many cafes, bars and shops along the way, plus Borough Market and Mercato Metropolitano.

Brixton Station to Oval Station
A largely flat, entirely paved urban route that keeps to a maze of quiet residential streets and a small park, avoiding the main road. The frequent twists and turns make it harder to navigate and pavements are often cluttered with parked cars and uneven kerbs.
Easy: 3km, gentle ascents.

Battersea Park Station to Oval Station
gorgeous Thameside beauty. A fairly direct urban route mostly alongside busy main roads and with one lovely stretch along the Thames Path past Battersea Power Station and a riverside pocket park near Nine Elms. Some narrow pavements with uneven surfaces near the Oval and Vauxhall.
Easy: 3km, gentle ascents.
Mostly busy main roads, including the complicated, busy Vauxhall junction with many crossings.
Lunch: Plenty of cafes and coffee shops along the Thameside section near Nine Elms.
