Weston-super-Mare Station to Yatton Station
A flat walk of two halves: a long, monotonous pavement tramp through the urban sprawl of Weston and Worle, then a much better section across the Somerset Levels on cycle path, quiet lanes, gravel tracks and field paths through watery reed-fringed landscape, finishing on the Strawberry Line cycle path. The countryside half is guaranteed soggy and locally muddy in winter and with the odd stile and a few gates. Uses cycle route 33 and the Strawberry Line cycle path; passes the Avon Wildlife Trust's Puxton Moor Nature Reserve. A garage with a shop near Congresbury.
16km. Flat terrain.
Two crossings of the busy A370 — take great care. Some unsurfaced tracks and field paths are wet and muddy, especially in winter; one quiet lane is narrowish with no pavement. The odd stile and a few gates in the countryside section.
Lunch: A massive out-of-town shopping centre near Worle and a garage with a shop near Congresbury; otherwise little on the countryside half.
