Dinas Powys Station to Penarth Station
A scenic route through country park and field paths away from busy roads. Some sections are very overgrown with nettles, the field between Cross Common Road and Sully Road can be very muddy or boggy after rain and with stiles to climb. Toilet facilities at Cosmeston Lakes.
Easy: 6km, moderate ascents.
Some paths are very overgrown with nettles, so cover your legs; the field crossing has stiles and can be very muddy, particularly in winter. An alternative via Watery Lane and Murch Road avoids the mud and stiles.

Dinas Powys Station to Cardiff Central Station
lovely scenic route. A walk of two halves: a long, more urban stretch along Penarth Road and back streets, then a rural section between Llandough and Dinas Powys on fields and woodland paths. The rural part is very boggy and muddy in wet weather, with stiles, kissing gates and a steep, narrow and muddy woodland descent; some narrow pavement and short stretches without pavement.
Tough: steep ascents. 7km.
Take care crossing Pen-y-Turnpike Road between Michaelston-le-Pit and Llandough. The woodland descent to Penarth Road is steep, narrow and very muddy, with a narrow path beside an industrial estate where a growing tree may eventually block the way; there are stiles and a flight of stairs that is easy to miss.
