Henley-in-Arden to Warwick
Impressively deep cutting (canal near Hatton). Warwickshire countryside and Grand Union Canal towpath; gently wooded. Medieval market town of Henley-in-Arden founded 13th century; Warwick is Warwickshire's county town. Route traverses remnants of Forest of Arden with ancient hedgerows from 16th century.

Dorridge to Henley-in-Arden
Countryside; primarily along canal towpaths. Henley-in-Arden is a medieval new town founded early 13th century when the lord of Beaudesert Castle purchased a market charter.

Henley-in-Arden to Kenilworth
Rewarded by a great 360 view of the surrounding countryside. A varied countryside walk over agricultural land and through villages, woodland and across canals, with plenty of gates, stiles, bridges and steps. There is an early climb onto a motte-and-bailey, some road walking and sections can get very muddy after rain. Crosses both the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and the Grand Union Canal. The route passes through an old tractor graveyard with rusting machinery.

Wythall to Henley-in-Arden
A varied route on good pavement out of Wythall, then field paths and woodland through the Forest of Arden and crossing the M42 by an underpass. Several sections are not well walked or signposted and need careful navigation; paths can get very muddy in wet weather. Passes Clowes Wood and New Fallings Coppice; can be split at The Lakes station.

Lunch: Lunch opportunities in Wood End or Tanworth in Arden.
Warnings: Several poorly signposted, faint sections need careful navigation with a map or OS app; paths to Kidpile Farm get very muddy in wet weather.

Very similar to the parallel route, with a 0.75-mile stretch of dangerous road walking on Box Trees Road due to narrow and uneven verges and fast traffic.
