Kilburn High Road Station to Camden Town Station

An easy urban walk on mostly quiet, generally wide streets and with a surfaced track through the park beneath Primrose Hill in the middle. There are some cobbles on the Kilburn side. Short detours lead to Abbey Road and up Primrose Hill for views over the city; London Zoo and Lord's Cricket Ground are close by.

Easy: 4km, moderate ascents.

Lunch: Plenty of distractions along the way including the Jazz Café, shops and pubs.

Kilburn High Road Station to Paddington Station

A straightforward, flat urban walk through pleasant parts of London, getting quickly off the main road onto a quieter parallel road and grand residential streets before reaching the canal at Little Venice. A short flight of wide steps down to the canal, with avoidable cobbles and a finish along the platforms into Paddington. Lovely 19th-century architecture along the way; the route finishes through Paddington station along the platforms on what was once a taxi road.

Lunch: A trendy canal-side area at Little Venice with lots of pubs and places to eat.

A varied urban walk through residential streets and business districts, taking in a wide range of architecture. Mostly easy underfoot and with a short flight of stairs and some kerbs near Hampstead that can be skirted.

Easy: 3km, moderate ascents.

Lunch: Shops, cafes and pubs all along the route.

Wembley Central Station to Kilburn High Road Station

A varied urban route, roughly half quiet residential streets and the rest parks and local high streets and all paved throughout. One footbridge over the North Circular has ramps as well as steps; some greenery at Brent River Park and Queen's Park. There is a farmers' market at Queen's Park on Sundays.

Easy: 9km, gentle ascents.

Some walking along very busy roads (the A5 in Kilburn, central Harlesden) and a footbridge crossing the A406 North Circular.

Lunch: A park cafe and Sunday farmers' market at Queen's Park, plus busy high streets at Harlesden and Kilburn.
