Woking Station to Addlestone Station
A really easy-to-follow and direct and pleasant route making the most of the Basingstoke Canal and Wey Navigation towpaths. The first section out of Woking is mostly paved; the stretch along the Wey is rougher ground and can be muddy in places after rain. A gradual rise as the locks raise the canal level; away from traffic and mostly quiet. Follows the Basingstoke Canal and Wey Navigation towpaths.
Easy: 10km, flat terrain.
Lunch: There are no refreshments along the way, but it is not a long route.

Addlestone Station to Ashford Station
A mix of urban pavements, parks and soft, sometimes muddy footpaths and with pleasant riverside and meadow walking. Chertsey Meads are low-lying river meadows that may need wading through in the lowest parts after rain. At least one stile.
10km.
Chertsey Bridge is busy and best crossed facing oncoming traffic, crossing the river on the near-side pavement first. Access across Greenfield recreation ground is partly restricted by a taut cable, with a footpath around the outside as an alternative.
Lunch: Good pub at Chertsey Bridge and more refreshments at Laleham.

Chertsey Station to Addlestone Station
A short, quiet suburban route on paved paths mainly away from main roads, mostly off-road or on quiet back streets, with an underpass and a wooded path beside the railway. Good for wheels (no steps) and though pavement parking may cause difficulties; one unavoidable bit of busy main road.
2km.
An unavoidable section of the busy A317 on the approach to Chertsey; the A317 (Eastworth Road) end can be fairly busy.
