Tonypandy Station to Porth Station
A valley route with a mountain path section that has access problems: gates tied shut and the path leading nowhere past Graigddu Farm, with bracken and brambles in overdrive in late summer and forcing a descent to the busy main road.
Tough: steep ascents. 4km.
Access problems on the mountain path around Graigddu Farm, with gates tied shut and the path petering out after the first field; in late summer the bracken and brambles make it impassable, forcing a detour onto the very busy A4058.

Treorchy Station to Tonypandy Station
A valley route with a mountain path section that climbs from the Nant-y-Gwyddon Road. The mountain path becomes overgrown and disappears into bracken in late summer, making it hard to follow and with an alternative through a wooded nature reserve. Good views over the Rhondda Valley. Alternative passes through Glyncornel Nature Reserve, a Woodland Trust site.
Tough: steep ascents. 6km.
